Our Instructor

Allie Hartlein ODCRN has Irish danced since she was 7 years old. She competed in Cumann Rince Naisiunta (CRN), becoming the first Craobh Grad (or Champion) dancer from the Midwest and one of only two competitors with the Craobh Grad title in her age group in North America at the time. In order to become a champion, Allie won the Ard Grad (or advanced grade) Award at the North American Championships in 2013. Also, as a soloist, Allie placed in the top 10 at the  World Championships in Castlebar, Ireland, and placed highly at several North American and Regional Championships.

Allie also fell in love with team dancing, which led to an additional three World Championship medals, all in the top five placements. Allie has also been on three teams that were North American Champions.  She is also undefeated in the family dance category in a two-hand she competed with her dad.

Allie has been teaching Irish dance since she was 16 years old.  In 2016 Allie founded the Shamrock Academy of Irish Dance at Twist and Shout in Mahomet and has since seen Shamrock Academy grow to be one of the largest Irish Dance schools in Central Illinois. Currently, Shamrock Academy students frequently place at National-Level CRN feiseanna.  Allie became a member of CRN in 2018, and became a fully-certified Irish dance instructor (ODCRN) in June 2019, becoming the sixth American and first Illinois resident to earn this credential. In December 2018, she brought the first ever Irish dancing competition to Central Illinois, and she also serves on the North American Championships Committee.

Allie has a Bachelor of Science in Mathematics from the University of Illinois, and is currently pursuing her Masters of Education in Elementary Education. In her free time, she enjoys cheering on the Illini and running, biking and skiing, or anything where she can be outside and active.
